Questions

Answers before you book

If your question isn’t here, ask it on the first call. There’s no charge for it.

Plans

Who needs an estate plan?

Anyone with children, a home, or someone they’d want to make decisions for them if they couldn’t. Many people start after a new baby, a move or a parent’s illness.

What happens if I die without a will?

State law decides who receives what, and a court picks a guardian for your children. A will lets you make those choices yourself.

How often should a plan be updated?

Look at it after a marriage, divorce, birth, death or move, and otherwise every few years. Updates are a flat fee, quoted first.

Fees

Are your fees really flat?

Yes. The fee in your engagement letter is what you pay for the work it describes, however many calls it takes.

What isn’t in the fee?

Court filing fees and county recording fees, which we pass on at cost and tell you about in advance.

Meetings

Do I have to come to Minneapolis?

Only if you’d like to sign here. Every meeting can happen by video, and we can arrange the signing closer to home.

Can I plan for a parent?

You can help, set up the calls and join them if your parent wants. Your parent makes the choices and signs.

Which languages do you work in?

English, Hmong and Spanish. Tell us when you book, and we’ll match you with the right lawyer.

Not sure which plan you need?

A 20-minute call is the quickest way to find out what you need and what it costs.
